Summer Solar Workshop Series: Create a Solar Exploration Kit
Join Groundwork Center for Resilient Communities at the Traverse Area District Library this summer for a solar workshop series!
Discover the science and art of sunlight in this creative, hands-on workshop! Kids will build their own solar exploration kits and use special light-sensitive cyanotype paper to make stunning nature-inspired prints with leaves, flowers, and other found objects. We’ll also launch solar balloons and explore how the sun’s energy can blow them up — it's a magical mix of art, science, and solar-powered fun!

Cedar Polka Fest
The Cedar Polka Fest is an annual festival celebrating the towns rich Polish history. Lasting 4 days and nights, nearly 10,000 people descend into town for family fun. Join us to eat, drink, and dance the nights away.
With live Polka music from the best Polka Bands in America, this festival is a real treat for Polka fans. Food vendors offer Beer, Polish Food, Ribs, Hotdogs, Popcorn and so much more. Kids will enjoy games, while adults will indulge in the unique atmosphere that only Polka can create.

Norte Slow Roll Ride
Nothing brings people together like a bike ride! Join us for Slow Rolls all summer long!
Slow Rolls are our free community bike rides designed to provide a fun, social experience on two wheels. Show up, slow down, and explore your community at an entirely new pace. These family bike rides are typically just a few miles along a safe, flat route. All ages are welcome.
Traverse City Slow Rolls start at Oryana at 6:00pm and end at The Little Fleet around 7:00pm.

Star Party and Candlelight Hike
Are you ready for a magical night under the stars at the Dune Climb?
Date: Saturday, June 28, arrive anytime between 9 and 10:30 pm
Location: Dune Climb, 6748 S Dune Hwy, Glen Arbor, MI 49636
Come explore the night sky with drop-in telescope stations provided by the Grand Traverse Astronomical Society! Plus, take a stroll down an enchanting one-mile trail lit by lanterns that guide you along the base of the dunes at dusk.
What to know:
Parking is tight right at 9 pm, so arrive a bit later for easier access & remember to park with headlights facing east.
Don’t forget your flashlight for a safe return to your car!
Whether cloudy or clear skies, the adventure is on. If rain is in the forecast, please call park rangers at 231-326-4700, ext. 5005 for updates by 7 pm.

Cherry Festival Balance Bike Race
Get set for an exciting morning of racing at the Grand Traverse County Civic Center on Saturday, June 28. 150 young racers will showcase their skills and determination on the balance bike course, and you can cheer them on to the finish line! Youth & Family Canoe Trip
The Kalkaska Conservation District, Live Well Kalkaska, & Kalkaska County Sheriff's Department are teaming up to bring your family another fun and healthy activity this summer!
On Thursday, June 26th, we are canoeing the Upper Manistee River. This is a great opportunity to learn to appreciate our natural resources, use teamwork, and learn how to manage stress.
Transportation is provided from the downtown Kalkaska municipal lot (Walnut & Third St) to Shel-Haven Canoe Livery. Lunch, canoes, and life jackets are also provided.
This event is for children 10 and up, but children under 10 are welcome if a parent or guardian attends.

More Girls on Bikes
Join Norte for a laidback and welcoming bike ride! We’ll do a short 3-4 mile ride, based on group speed, beginning and ending at the Norte Clubhouse at the Grand Traverse County Civic Center.
Women and girls of all ages are welcome. Young riders in 4th grade and up are encouraged to ride. 3rd grade and lower should consider hopping in a bike trailer. All riders 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
